Ircon-Solaronics has supplied Verso Corporation with two infrared drying systems GemDryer^® after blade coaters on its PM #E3. The start-up of the systems took place in October 2019.

The goal of the rebuild was to boost the drying capacity and to improve the quality of the graphic papers by adding a high-intensity dryer before the existing air dryers on both coating heads.

The paper machine #E3 produces graphic papers used in commercial printing, media, and marketing applications, including magazines, catalogs, books, direct mail, corporate collateral, and specialty papers used in label and converting applications.  The Ircon-Solaronics GemDryer^® combined with an Energy Recovery system (ERS) addresses the paper machine’s flexibility needs and can be easily adapted to the different coating dry weights.

Moreover, thanks to its compactness and unique design, coupled with the use of high performance Gem12E emitters, the system meets the customer needs in terms of high-power density, ease of maintenance and low operating costs.
