This picture shows a DryMaster™ immediately after the coating head with TempArray temperature control.
The temperature measurement is used to provide direct feedback and adjust the local drying power in zones of 37,5 to 75 mm. This allows for adjusted drying rate in function of local cross-direction differences in coat application.
Imperfections in coating application can be compensated by adjusting the local drying rate and product quality deviations can be avoided by this advanced drying control.
This picture shows how coarse profiling is integrated inside a GemDryer™.
Based on feedback from the reel moisture zones are switched off or on in order to adjust the drying power in zones in order to improve the spread of the moisture profile on the pope.
The first 2 rows are at full power for coat drying and the last 4 rows are operating with CD moisture control feedback.
This example shows how our GemDryer® was designed to implement a gas IR profiler which is installed in very limited space against a drying cylinder. The goal of the project was to replace a water jet moisturizer for CD control which reached end of life.
Thanks to the installed solution, improved moisture profiles are reached with reduced maintenance compared to the old solution.
Drying the wet zones instead of remoisturizing the dry zones also results in an overall increase of drying capacity and possible speed increase.
